Introduction
Location:
- Situated in Veerakeralampudur Village, Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu.
- Positioned between the Chittar and Hanumanathi Rivers, which merge to form a major tributary to the Thamirabarani River.
- About 22 km from Tenkasi, 48 km from Thirunelveli, 170 km from Madurai, and 130 km from Thiruvananthapuram.

Puranic Significance:
- Associated with the story from the Ramayana involving Sage Gautama, Ahalya, and Indra.
- Gautama cursed Ahalya (turning her into stone) and Indra (cursed with a thousand female genitalia), later transforming the curse to a thousand eyes for Indra (Sahasraksha).
- Gautama established two Shiva Lingas, Neelamani Nathar and Arunachaleswarar, and consecrated the temple to Vadakku Vasal Selvi Amman in the northern side of the village to absolve sins.
Special Features:
- The temple enshrines Selvi Amman as Bhadrakali Amman and Neelakandeswari as Shakti.
- The two shrines face each other, with Selvi Amman holding a Trishula and Vibhoothi Bowl.
- Shrines dedicated to Ganapathy, Nagars, Bhairava, and Karupusamy are also present.
- Thala Vriksham (sacred tree): Neem Tree.
- Theertham (sacred water): Chitraru River.
- The temple is believed to be over 1000 years old.
