Introduction

This is a 1500 year old Arthanariswarar temple built by RajendraChola in the village of Veeracholapuram near Kallakurichi. His descendants sought to build a royal tower facing south.However, the construction of the Rajagopuram was not completed due to the death of the person involved in the work. Arthanareeswarar Temple is located in veeracholapuram, Kallakurichi District.TheShivalingam in this temple is dedicated and worshiped by the Siddhars. Puranic Significance

The idol of Lord Murugan in the temple was stolen 40 years ago.
