Puranic Significance

  • The Kothandarama Temple dates back to the 16th Century AD. It is located very close to the Chandragiri Fort, which was historically significant to the Rayas dynasty.
  • The temple’s architectural grandeur rivals that of the fort, showcasing a remarkable blend of artistry and spiritual significance.

Special Features

  • A unique feature of the temple is the presence of all the deities on a single pedestal, known as ‘Eka Peetham’. This is a rare occurrence in Hindu temples.
  • The idols of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Bharata, and Shatrughna are placed together on one platform. Additionally, Hanuman and Garuda are positioned on either side of the platform, creating a harmonious spiritual ensemble.
  • The temple is managed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), ensuring its upkeep and proper functioning.
