Introduction
Prasat Prang Ku is 10 kilometres from the district office. Prang Ku is a small Khmer site built of large laterite slabs. It is over a thousand years old. Prang Ku, or Prasat Nong Ku, is a complex of Khmer-style religious site ruins that once served as a hospice and medical facility originating from the 12th-13th century. It is dedicated to the Medicine Buddha. Its layout resembles an “Arogayasala” (which means hospital) – and comprises a main Prang (spire), a library, wall and entrance pavilions, and a pond outside of the walls. Especially the roof structure of the main Prang, which still has its three tiers with a lotus decoration at its pinnacle. Other parts of the ruins. There are three castles in a line from south to north on a base built entirely of laterite stones. It is about 5 kilometers from the Prang Ku District and about 65 kilometers from Sisaket Province.
Puranic Significance
There are three castles in a line from south to north on a base built entirely of laterite stones. The two castles were built with large bricks. The pillars were carved and attached to the door’s edge to support the lintel built of sandstone. The north castle is the only one built from laterite with carved pillars and lintels made of sandstone. There are lotus flowers on the top, same as Sikhoraphum Castle in Surin. At present, the tops of the castles have collapsed. The lintels and door sills were stolen by thieves, and of those were recovered and kept at the National Museum, Phimai District, Nakhon Ratchasima. Many pieces of the castles are kept at Ban Ku temple Prang Ku Castle was built in Chaiworaman VII’s reign, the reign of the Khmer Empire.
