Introduction

The dharashiv temple are situated 8 Kms away from Osmanabad city in Balaghat Mountains. Dharashiv temple have been declared as Protected area by Government of Maharashtra and Archaeological Department. Dharashiv caves and Mahadev Temple are believed to be built around 5th-7th century. This temple is nearby dharashiv Buddhist cave. This temple is dedicated to lord shiva. The Dharashiv caves are famous as total of 11 caves, including Buddhist, Shiva and Jain, are in this area. During the age of Rastrakutas. As per the historical survey of caves they were built in 5th century B.C. There is severe differences between historical researchers & archaeological intelligence regarding religion. Recently the temple has been repaired.
