Introduction
Velukkudi Abhimukteeswarar Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva, located in the Velukkudi village, Mannargudi taluk, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Here the presiding deity is called as Lord – Abhimuktiswarar and Mother is called as Lord – Abhayambika. The Lord has a chamber towards the west, and at his gate are two stone pillars. Nagas are placed on both the sides. There is a beautiful Nandi and an altar in front of the Lord. In a hall to the south-west of the temple is Ganesha with a small three-wheeled vehicle in front of him. In the north there is Anjaneyar along with Sri devi boodevivengadachalapathy. In the north-west are Kasi Viswanathar Vishalatsi and valli deivanai sametha murugan Next is Runa Vimochana in front of whom is a small Nandi. There are three idols of Kalabhairava and Mahabhairavavira in the north-east. Ganesha is on the south side, enshrined in the sanctum sanctorum. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.
