Introduction

Vathattur Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Vathattur village, Nannilam circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Vathattur is a small village, adjacent to this town is a village called Kottur and this is a small Shiva temple. Here the lord is in the lingam from, and has a temple facing towards the east side of the main road. The people of the village have built it with their own efforts. Work is almost done. Only the ground floor remains. All the murtis have been kept in separate sheds until the temple work is completed. The old Temple is believed to be 800 years old.
