Introduction
Vadapalli Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, located in the Vadapalli, Nalgonda district, Telangana. The shrine of Vadapalli (Wadapally) Lakshmi Narasimha can be found near the district of Nalgonda. Where the rivers Krishna and Musi meet with each other. The following two tributaries coincide with each other, in the form of the alphabet – L, in a rather unusual way. Vadapalli can be found at a distance of twenty kilometers from the railway station by the name of Miryalaguda that can be found on the route that connects Hyderabad and Chennai through Nalgonda.
Puranic Significance
A legend explains the origin of the temple, Vyasa Bhagwan, the great saint, offered penance and requested Lord Vishnu to appear in Vadapalli. Vishnu was pleased with his penance and appeared before him in the form of the angry Narasimha who has just killed Hiranyakashyapa and is still rampant from the battle. Sage Vyasa requested him to stay in Wadapally as Narasimha and Vishnu agreed happily. Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy hence bears the aggressive avatar of Narasimha who is blessing believers and solving their difficulties. The temple authorities have now adopted an exclusive process to find the truth behind this tale. They place two lamps next to the idol of the Narasimha Swamy, where one lamp is seen trembling signifying the heavy breathing of the furious and angry God while the other lamp remains firm.
Special Features
Agyastayar installed and constructed a temple for Lord Narashimar. As the years passed there was lot of changes and the temple was not taken care and the main deity was covered by ant hill.
The Temple is believed to be 1500 years old. The temple is small one and has lot of place, around it with trees and plants. We see Dwjasthanbam near the entrance and Garuda near the Dwajasthambam. As we enter inside we have the darshan of Jaya, Vijayan to either side of the entrance. We have to enter into artha mandapam and inside in the main sanctum we have the darshan of Lord Lakshmi Narashima swamy. There is no separate sanctum for Goddess. This is the only sanctum in the temple. Inside the main sanctum we see two lamps lit and tied to a pole next to deity. One lamp is to the height of main god and the other is half way down. The light lit to the lamp on the top is wavering where as the one to the other lamp is still.
They say the shake in the light is due to the breath of Lord Narashima in main sanctum.
