Introduction
Vadakaraimathur Shiva Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Vadakaraimathur village, Nannilam circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. The village on its south bank is called Thengaraimathur and the village on the north bank is called Vadakaraimathur. The Perumal temple is in the center of the town and this Shiva temple is in the eastern corner. Where the temple is is the abode of Lord Shiva on one side of a huge expanse.
The legendary temple is a building that has been built in the past. The bricks hidden in the walls are grinning. The Lord is depicted on the garment as a round pattern brought from Kashi. Vegetation grows between the Lord and Nandi, obscuring his view, and Ambigai is on a small platform towards the south. Inside the sanctum sanctorum are Vinayaka and Dhandayudhapani. There is Ganesha standing with faded clothes. The Temple is believed to be 1500 years old.
