Introduction
Thiruvidaimarudur Kashi Vishwanath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Thiruvidaimarudur circle, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. Thiruvidaimarudur have four Shivalayam’s for Vishwanathar, Atmanathar, Rishipuriswarar and Chokanathar and Mahalinga. Here the Lord is sitting in the middle, so this place is also known as Panchalinga sthalam. Kasi Vishwanath is the west facing temple in this town. This temple is the temple of Thiruvavaduthurai Atheenam.
Puranic Significance
This street, which used to be full of temple recites, has been completely bought by Muslims and has become a mosque street. Due to this the temple has lost its poojas.
The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old. A few years ago, the restoration work started and the work has also been delayed. The temple is situated on a twenty cent plot of land, with Lord Kashi Vishwanath facing west and Visalakshi facing south. Before the sanctum sanctorum there is a long hall. Outside is Nandi, and to the southwest is a Ganesha shrine. There are some idols at the gate of the sanctum sanctorum. In Karurai Kottam there are Durga and Tenmughan, Sandesar is a very big Thirumeni. On the south side there is a large palm tree.
