Introduction

Thirumoozhikkalam is one of the 108 Vaishnava temples. Ithalam, sung by Nammazhvara, is located in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. Arita Maharishi gave Lord Ammunivar the scripture ‘Sri Sukti’ which teaches the people to repent and follow the rules of Tirumala. Hence the name Tirumolikkalam for this place and Tirumolikkalam for Emperuman. Tirumozhikkalam became Tirumozhikkalam over time. As the name has been understood for a long time, it has been studied as Tirumulikkalam in the Alwar hymns. The lord of this place is called Thirumoozhikkalam, the father of Sreesuktinathan, in the east-facing Tirukolam. Goddess: Maduraveni Nachiyar. Theertham: Kapila Theertham, Purna Nadi. Plane: Joins the organization called Beauty Plane. It is the site of the Mangalasasana in 14 pasuras by Nammazhvara and Thirumangai Alvara. In the Ramayana, Bharathan is worshiped along with the target.The target erected the tower, the hall, etc. for the site and did many repairs. Puranic Significance

When Lord Krishna was in Dwarka, he used to worship 4 idols namely Raman, Lakshmanan, Bharathan and Shatruganan. Once the area was submerged, the idols were found by the sage Vakel Kaimal. The Lord, who appeared in his dream that night, told him to dedicate these idols on the banks of the river Bharatpuzha. These are the Thirupparaiyar Ram Temple in Thrissur district, the Bharathan Temple in Irinjalakuda, the Shatrugan Temple in Payamallu and the Letsumanaperumal Temple in Thirumoozhikkalam, Ernakulam District. This is the only place in the Perumal temples in Kerala that is blessed with the title of Letsumana Perumal. There is another story about this place. Once upon a time, Haritha Maharishi repented for the festival at Italam. Perumal, who enjoyed his meditation, said, “Ask for blessings.” For that Maharishi, Perumale! Tell me the simple way for all the people of this world to come and reach you, ”he said. Great for that, ”“ Maharishi! He said, “I offer you at this stage the” Sri Sukti “(sermon) which teaches the rules of worship that all people should follow to reach me easily according to the profession they are doing (according to Varnasirama Dharma).” That is why Ithalam is given as Thirumozhikkalam and Perumal as Thirumozhikkalam. This is what became the liturgy over time.

Special Features

The temple is located on the banks of the famous Bharathapuzha River in Kerala. Ithalam was once a major galaxy. Many kinds of texts have been explored here as “Srisusikti” was given here. Thus, Ithalam became an educational city and an art city with a large number of learned adults. Raman had to stay in the gallery while going to the forest. Then Bharathan came there to take Rama back to Ayodhya. Seeing this, Lakshmanan thinks that Bharathan is coming to fight Rama and tries to kill him. Realizing that this was a mistake, Lakshmanan would say that he had submitted to Ithalattu Perumal to apologize for the mistake, and then Bharathane came and embraced Lakshmanan and told him that Ithalam had become a “Tirumoli field”. This is the 69th Divya Desam out of the 108 Divya Desams which received the Mangalasasana of Perumal. It is the place where Lakshmanan and Bharathan worshiped together. Lakshmanan has built the tower and the hall for this place and done many works. This Perumal with four thirukkaras is blessed with a conch, a wheel in the upper two hands, a story in the lower right hand, and a lotus flower in the lower left hand placed on the waist with the kolam facing east. Moolavar’s plane is a beautiful plane. He has been visited by Haritha Maharishi. There is a separate shrine to Lord Shiva here as an example of Vedic Vaishnava unity.

Festivals

In the month of Chithirai, the star of Thiruvonam is celebrated Flagging ten days before that. Perumal has special anointing ceremonies for all Thiruvonam except Chithirai Thiruvonam. As far as Kerala is concerned, the entire month of Adi is a Ramayana month and the temples are crowded during this month.
