Introduction

Thiruchitrambalam Nadanapureeswara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Thirchitrambalam town, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu. Here the lord has the names Kusreenadanapureeswar, Srivilvavaneswarar, Srichandraswarar, Sriparasareswarar. And Mother is called as Sivakamasundari. There are shrines of Goddess Vishundaranayake, Perumal Sridevi, Ganesha, Murugan, Durga, Dakshinamurthy, Navagraha, and Nataraja shrine.

Puranic Significance 

 In 1978, the black stone temple was repaired and Kumbabhishekam was performed. In this place which used to be a forest of bows, if the Lord appears under the bow tree, he is called Bow Varanyeswarar. The east facing temple, the lord is facing south side.  The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old.
