Introduction
Thalamalai Sanjeeviraya Perumal Temple is dedicated to Perumal, located in Thalamalai hill between Tiruchirappalli – Namakkal districts of Tamil Nadu. Thalimalai reserve forest is located in Namakkal district in the Eastern Ghats. The hill is found to be full of various types of plants and trees including herbs. The Sanjeeviraya Perumal temple is situated on a hill about 3,200 feet high in this reserve forest. To get to this temple, walk to the top of the hill.
Puranic Significance
It was believed that the temple is built during the period of Nayakkars. The temple is said to be more than 500 years old. During those days, there was a shepherd who used to take the cows for grazing. While all other cows are came back with him, one cow alone went astray to the top of the hill and giving milk to a boy there. Shepherd was kept searching and found this and informed the Nayakkar. That night Lord appeared before Nayakkar in his sleep and asked him to build a temple on top and perform regular pooja. From then, the hereditary Nayakkars were the treasurers of the temple

It is believed that those who worship at this temple will be cured of all diseases and blessed with peace & prosperity.
Special Features
This hill gets its name because it resembles the head of a person. This hill is also known as Siragiri. The presiding deity of the temple is Nallendra Perumal, a form of Lord Vishnu. One can find shrines of Venkatachalapathy, Alamelu Mangai Thayaar, Goddess Mahalaxmi, Sri Devi, Bhudevi, Lord Anjaneya, Garudazhvar, and Karupanna Swami. This temple was built by Madurai Nayaks.
There is a spring called Ramar pond with water flowing all the time. Devotees walk around on a narrow path around the temple for pradakshinas. People strongly believe that going round this rock temple would give them successful marriage, wealth and child birth.
Festivals
Annual festival is celebrated in Tamil month of Puratasi (September / October), once in three years poojas for Edi Bhagavan (Thunder) are performed here.
