Introduction
Tenmarudhur Agatheeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Tenmarudhur village, Thirukkuvalai taluk, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. This temple is an east facing Shiva temple, with a large pond opposite to it. Here the Presiding deity is called as Lord- Agatheeswarar and Mother is called as Vallinayaki.
Agastya stayed here and worshiped Lord Shiva when he went towards the south to achieve world. Thus, the Lord here has the honour of being worshiped by him. Lord and Goddess are in separate sanctuaries. Murugan along with Vinayaka and Vallitheivanai are at the gate of the temple. The temple is said to be more than 1500 years old.
There is Dakshinamurthy in south direction and Brahma in north direction. Nandi and altar can be found outside the temple premises’ Festivals like Pradosham and Annabhishekam, Shivratri are celebrated in this temple. Otherwise the temple is in a period of worship.
