Varaha Murthy Amman: Bhudevi
Introduction
The temple is 1300 years old. Andal Nachiyar is also associated with the incarnation. Even the Trivikrama incarnation, measuring the three worlds in the Dasavataras, stood on this earth. But the incarnation of Varaha also lifted the earth as easily as a dust on its horn and blessed it. Mahendravarma Pallava commissioned Nalliyakkodan, who was the song leader, to build a temple for the Swami at Italam. He built the temple which was supposed to be a brick structure. The temple was later rebuilt a few years ago and was left in a state of disrepair due to foreign domination. Aditya holds the place where the right foot of the Swami is imprinted on the earth. The twisted hug that hugged the earth on the bent left thigh! Outside the sanctum, on the left, you can see Kothandaramara as Sridevi Bhudevi Sametara. On the right is the Alvars Sanctuary, in the outer hall where Vishnu blesses Durga. Although the temple has been renovated, some work remains to be done. In particular, the construction of a hall for the wedding to take place on the premises has stalled due to the financial crisis. That too will be completed soon by the grace of Perumal, say temple officials.
Puranic Significance
Based on these, sinful heavens and hells operate. It is the duty of the gods to govern the earth. What is their mission if not that earth? And to disrupt the cosmic order created by that Paraman is to oppose that Paraman itself! But the acuran Hiranyatson dared to do that. He lifted the earth and hid it. What would be the condition of the living beings on the earth if it were hidden without the protection of the Panchaputhas? Was that Vaikunda Vasan watching …… he restored the earth with his horns. Bhumadevi was thrilled by the mercy of Bhagavan. She prayed that this privilege, which she had received in times of danger, would be available to ordinary living beings and that they would have to devise a plan for it. Then Swami advised a trick.
Beliefs
The first thing that appears is that Swami is the protector of the earth. The problem with purchased land is the inability to afford to own a home that has been tried for a long timeHe will solve the grievances of those who have problems in splitting land deeds and stumbling over not being able to complete the house. Problems related to land If you bring land deeds and place them at the feet of the Lord and worship with ghee lamps, there will be benefits. It is also a place of marriage ceremonies as the Swami is seen here embracing the Goddess Bhoomi. Some devotees also give Tulabaram as a token of gratitude for having a child. Tirukolam is a place where one eye of the Swami can see Bhumadevi and the devotees who come to see him again. Therefore, if the vision of the Lord is caught, all the incurable diseases will be cured soon. Wealth will increase at home.
Special Features
It is special to have a screw on the koil who embraced Bhoomi Prati as Swami Santha Murthy. Tirukolam is a place where one eye of the Swami can see Bhumadevi and the devotees who come to see him again. The serpent is seen as an aspect of Rahu Ketu as he worships the Lord in the Arthamandapa canopy. Therefore, this place is also the place of reparation for Rahu Ketu. Perumal was the one who came and worshiped all the gods. Anukiraka Murthy.
