The Dashavatara Temple is situated in Deogarh, Uttar Pradesh, on the right bank of the Betwa River. It is located in the northern-central region of India and is about 125 kilometers from Jhansi.

The temple dates back to the early 6th century CE and is one of the earliest surviving Hindu stone temples in India.

The temple faces west, with a slight deviation to the south. This alignment allows the setting sun’s rays to fall on the main idol inside the temple during specific times.

The temple is built on a square platform with steps at the center of each side, allowing pilgrims to enter from all four directions.
The temple is also known for its square water pool, cut into the rock in front, and is locally referred to as “Sagarmarh” (the temple on the tank).
