Introduction
Sigar Sundareswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Sigar village, Kilvelur circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. The Mangudi Bridge in the south of Thiruvarur is 12 km away by the south bank of Thanipandavai River. There is a small Shiva temple to the east and a large pond to the south. The temple is surrounded by a wall and a small gate. According to the carvings, the temple is mostly made of brick. They have a Lord sanctum sanctorum towards the east and a Mother sanctum sanctorum towards the south.
Here the Presiding deity is called as Lord – Sundareswarar and Mother is called as Alagiya Amman, Karuvarai kosthas has Vinayagar and Murugan. Nearby there is a small lingam. Before the Lord there is a long hall in which there is a small statue of Amman. Nandi is sitting on a raised platform outside the long hall. There are no kosthas in the sanctum sanctorum, and a separate dome has been built in the north. The temple is said to be more than 1500 years old.
