• Location: Bhairava Temple is situated in Ratanpur Town, Bilaspur District, Chhattisgarh, India. It is located approximately three kilometers from the Mahamaya Mandir, towards Bilaspur.
• Deity: The temple is dedicated to Lord Bhairava, a fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva. The statue of Kaal-Bhairav in this temple is nine feet tall and carved from stone.

Puranic Significance:

• Role of Kaal-Bhairav: Kaal-Bhairav is one of the 52 Bhairavs and is considered the door-keeper of Devi (the goddess). It is believed that one must first seek Darshan (viewing) and perform Puja (worship) at the Bhairava Temple before visiting the Maa Mahamaya Temple. This practice is thought to ensure proper worship and blessings from Maa Mahamaya.
• Historical Context: While the temple holds significant religious and cultural importance, its exact historical origins are not well-documented, contributing to its mystique and the reverence it commands among devotees.

Special Features:

• Idol: The temple houses a towering nine-foot-tall idol of Kaal-Bhairav. This idol was originally placed on an open platform before the construction of the temple by Baba Gyanagiri Gosai.
• Worship Practice: Visiting the Bhairava Temple is considered a mandatory step before proceeding to the nearby Mahamaya Temple, highlighting the temple’s unique role in local religious practices.
