Introduction
Swethaaranyeshwarar Temple is a dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Pudukkudi Village in Kudavasal Taluk near Thiruvarur Town in Thiruvarur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Swethaaranyeshwarar and Mother is called as Anandavalli. The Temple is considered as Thevara Vaippu Sthalam as Devaram hymns sung by Appar. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.
Puranic Significance
Kumbabhishekam was held in 1990 (December 12) in the presence of Sri Kanchi Kamkodi Prelates Jagatguru Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamikal and Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati Swami. The temple is small. On one side of the circle are four Shivalingas lined up. The Natarajar Council is a private congregation. To the left of the hall are the four and Adisankar shrines. In Temple premises there are shrines for Subramanian, Bhairavar, Sun and Ganesha. Special festivals like Thiruvathirai, Annabhishekam etc. are held.
