Introduction

Kanchathu MalaiĀ Murugan templeĀ is located in Poolankuruchi village near Ponnamarathy, Pudukottai district in the state of Tamilnadu. Poolankurichi is located at a distance of 5 km from Ponnamarathy. The main temple here is located on the mountain range that rises to the north and west of Singaravelan. Here the presiding deity is called as Singaravelan with his consorts Valli and Deivanai.

Puranic Significance 

The Temple is believed to be more than 1000 years old. Thirty-two pillars stand on the porch through the main gate. At the entrance is a three-tiered royal tower. To the east is the Tirtha pond called Shanmuganathi. The temple is surrounded by a wall on all four sides. There are shrines of Valli Deyvanai Sametha Singaravelan, Sagasralingam, Meenakshi Amman, Sridevi Bhudevi Sametha Srinivasa Perumal, Shanmuga Ganesha, Durga, Navagraha, Panchamuga Anjaneyar, Swarna Akarshana Byravar, Karutazhvar Yoga.

Special Features

At the entrance of the Moolavar Singaravelan Shrine there are sculptures of Dwara balagarga, and a peacock vehicle. The hope is that the lives of those who worship her will be filled with everlasting excellence. The Sorna attraction Bhairavar here is on display with its goddess. It is believed that those who worship him will be enriched with wealth and gold jewellery.

At the entrance of the Durga Amman Shrine, there are sculptures of Duwara Shakti. In the eastern side, the Navagraha Nagarkars are seen sitting in their vehicles with their wives. They get married very soon as they worship in this Navagraha shrine. The couple prays to the Sagasra Lingam and the Meenakshi Goddess for unity.

Ippasi Annabhishekam, Karthika Maha Deepa, Thai Pongal, Mattupongal, Mahasivarathri, Special Worship to Murugan on the occasion of Panguni Uttara, Masimagam, Pradosham,Ā  And the special anointing for Singaravelan on Karthika Star Day is celebrated on Tuesdays and Fridays with various ceremonial ceremonies. Singaravelan Tirukkalyanam and Srinivasa Perumal Thirukkalyanam will be held on Vaikasi Visakam day.
