Introduction
Onakona Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Onakona village, in Balod district of Chhattisgarh. This temple is also called as Mahakal Lord Shiva Temple. This Mahakal Temple has amazing architectural style, built without beams. There are two temples are being constructed on the banks of the dam located at Onakona village. This is a large Shiva temple near the banks of Ravishankar sagar (Gangrel reservoir) on the Mahanadi River in Chhattisgarh. The reservoir is large and provides irrigation water in Chhattisgarh. It also provides a scenic backdrop to the temple. The temple includes artwork and iconography from Shiva, Vishnu and Shakti traditions. It integrates many different classical temple architectures from about 6th century to the post-Mughal Maratha period. It was incomplete temple.
