Introduction
Old Needamangalam Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Old Needamangalam, Needamangalam circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu.Needamangalam is the land between the confluence of three rivers namely Bamani, Vennar and Koraiyar. The Maratha king built a palace in this area as a fort with rivers flowing on three sides.
Puranic Significance
The temple built by Maharaja Prataba Simman is now in the eastern part of the town in an area called Old Needamangalam. The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old. This Shivalayam is situated the east towards the Venna River. The construction of the temple is like a very beautiful silver shim. More years have passed, and the ruins are decaying and decaying. Millions of bricks, formed by thousands of hands, are falling piece by piece.
The trees of royalty let down their roots and every brick is praying to those who come and go. The Lord still resides in the east-facing sanctum sanctorum with its collapsed gate, and Ambigai, accepting the request of the bricks, vacated his abode some time ago. In the facade is the Maha Mandapam with tall black stone pillars. Outside, Nandi is sitting in a secure separate hall.
