Introduction
Muttom Mahabaleeshwarar Shiva Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Muttom village, Mayiladuthurai circle, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu. Here the Presiding deity is called as Mahabaleeshwarar and Mother is called as Periyanayaki. Two km away on the Thiruvarur road leading to the south of Mayiladuthurai is the Manjalaru and 2 km further south is Muttom, a village along the river.
This Shiva temple may have been in big temple at one time. Now the temple is in dilapidated condition. This temple, which is several thousand years old, now worshiping the Lord is in the small shed. The temple is situated on the bank of a separate pond in the south of the village. The lord facing towards the east side. And nearby Ambikai is facing towards the south. Apart from this, there is also a lingam on the bank of a pond inside the town. In front of him are Nandi and Vinayaka.
