• Location: Situated near the Mukkani River Bridge on the way to Thiruchendur in Thoothukudi, the Sri Parvathavarthini Ammai Sametha Sri Ramaparameswarar Temple is renowned for its remarkable natural phenomenon where the sun shines directly on Lord Shiva in the sanctum, illuminating him in a golden light.
• Miraculous Event: During this special sunlight, Sri Ramaparameswarar (Lord Shiva) is said to appear as though he is sweating, a miraculous event that is believed to be unique to this temple.
• Mahakumbabhishekam: The temple’s Mahakumbabhishekam (consecration ceremony) was performed in May 2006, marking a significant event in its history.

Puranic Significance:

• South Rameshwaram: The temple is often referred to as South Rameshwaram, signifying its importance. Goddess Ambal is positioned facing south, believed to prevent the entry of evil spirits from the south direction.
• Separate Sanctums: The temple has distinct sanctums for Lord Shiva (Sri Ramaparameswarar) and Goddess Parvathavarthini (Ambal). Other deities like Ganesha, Balasubramanian, Dakshinamoorthy, and Chandikeswarar also have their shrines.
• No Bhairava or Navagraha Sanctum: There is no Bhairava or Navagraha sanctum in the temple because Lord Shiva himself is worshipped as the Navagraha, believed to relieve all planetary afflictions (Kirakatosam).

• Remover of Planetary Afflictions: Lord Shiva, in his form as Sri Ramaparameswarar, is revered as the one who removes all Kirakatosam (planetary afflictions). Devotees believe that worshipping here can eliminate obstacles related to Navagraha doshas (negative planetary influences), including delays in marriage and other life hurdles.

• Unique Shiva Idol: The Shiva Linga in this temple is a remarkable stone idol, carved 15 feet deep into a single stone. The idol is designed to represent the Trimurti – Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
• Navagraha Relief: Lord Shiva is considered the Navagraha in this temple, offering relief to devotees from planetary afflictions and blessings related to marriage and life challenges.
