Introduction
Mukasaparur Viswanatheswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Mukasaparur village, Virudhachalam taluk, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu. Years ago, Vriddhachalam of Kadalur district was the next largest town in this district. Parur is the headquarters of Parurpalayam. The arrival of the Islamic invader Muqaza changed the area. Temples were attacked and destroyed. One of them is this Annapurani temple. This temple is about 800 years old. Parurpalayam is now known as Mukasaparur.
Puranic Significance
The old temple has been renovated, so it can be said that the beauty of the old time has been spoiled. In the facade, the large stone Nandi Mandapam and the altar are the only ones that have not changed. After entering through a small entrance, the huge Nandi is in a large hall. Here the Presiding deity is called as Lord Vishwanathan and Mother is called as Annapurani. This is Eason who worshiped and adored. With his grace, Korakkar became a Siddhi in this temple. Siddhar mentioned in his songs about Lord Shiva and Mother Annapoorani.
He worships this Lord with the golden rays of the sun on Shivaratri. In the sanctum, there are idols of Vinayak, Dakshinamurthy, Annamalaiyar, Chandikeswarar and Durga. In the temple premises there is a statue of Korakkar Sidharjeeva in the hall. One can feel divine vibrations in this place. It is the belief of many that if you sit near this shrine and pray on the full moon day, the desired will happen.
The Lord is on the left side facing east side and the Mother is facing south side. There is beautiful Nandi in front of the Lord. There are also newly renovated idols of Bhairava, Sun Moon and Navagrahas.
