Introduction

Mokkaniswaram Mokkaniswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Mokkaniswaram Village in Avinashi Taluk in Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Mokkaniswarar. The Temple is considered as Thevara Vaippu Sthalam as Devaram hymns sung by Sundarar had a mention about this Temple. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. Mokkaniswaram is a small village. The temple was recently renovated. The temple is said to have been rebuilt on that basis of old temple. Goddess Meenakshi is in a separate shrine facing south. There are shrines of Navagraha, Byravar and Dakshinamoorthy in the small temple.
