Introduction
Kumbakkonam Kasi Viswanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Kumbakonam circle, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. On the south bank of the Kaveri flowing through Kumbakonam, there is another road called Kalyanaraman Road and this road is adjacent to the Palakkarai old bridge. It has two Vishwanathar temples. The first temple is called Sabarivar Vishwanath and the next one is Kasi Vishwanathar. This Kasi Vishwanath is on the banks of the Cauvery with his chamber towards the west side. Ambigai is facing south side. Directly opposite the sanctum sanctorum there is a large royal tree standing alone. There are also some Nagas under it. There is a medium-sized lingamurti of the Lord and Vinayagar Murugan at the gate of his sanctum. Nandi is opposite to the lord. Navagrahas and Bhairvar are also in the sanctum. The temple is said to be more than 1500 years old.
