Puranic Significance
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. Here the presiding deity is called as Lord Koteeswarar, is facing towards the east side, the Lingamurti is medium size, And Mother is called as Mangalambigai, is facing towards the south side. There is Vinayakar Murugan at the Lord’s sanctum gate. One hall connects the shrines of Lord and Goddess. Nandi is outside the hall. The prakaram has a Vinayagar shrine in the southwest, a separate Murugan shrine in the northwest, and a Bhairavar shrine in the northeast. Near the east gate is a big tree. There is an idol of Itumban near the south gate.
Beliefs
It is the belief of the people here that if infertile women tie a Sindhi flag as a ring around their feet and drink sandalwood solution anointed to Murugan here during Karthika or Sashti fasting, they will have children. There are many people who have recovered by doing the same. Since there is a custom of worshiping the flag in Sindh, this place is called Kodimangalam.
