Introduction

Abhimuktheshwar Temple is dedicated to God Shiva located at Kodaganallur in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. The main deity Abhimuktheshwar faces west and Goddess Soundarya Nayaki in the standing pasture facing south. The temple is located in a calm and serene atmosphere. The temple was patronized by Kodaganallur Sri Sundara Swamigal in the Appiah Dheekshidhar’s clan. This Temple is situated at the western end of Kodaganallur. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.

The last Kumbabishekam for this temple was conducted in the year 2000. Kodaganallur is a village situated on the banks of the river Tambiraparani. Kodaganallur is located about 23 Kms from Thirunelveli on the Thirunelveli – Cheranmadevi state highway, 9 Kms from Cheranmahadevi, 14 Kms from Veeravanallur, 172 Kms from Madurai and 157 Kms from Thiruvananthapuram. Nearest Railway Station is located at Cheranmahadevi and Veeravanallur. Nearest Airport is located at Madurai and Thiruvananthapuram.
