Introduction
Kattimancode Mahadevar Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva, located in Kattimancode Village in Kurunthancode Block in Kanniyakumari District of Tamil Nadu State, India. It is located 10 Kms towards west from District head quarters Nagercoil. 1Kms from Kurunthencode. Here the Presiding deity is called as Mahadev. Kattimankodu is surrounded by lush green forests full of lush bananas and tall coconuts. The temple of Lord Mahadev is located here on the bank of a pond.
Puranic Significance
Kattimancode Mahadevar Temple is one of the temples which were given to Tamil Nadu by the King of Travancore. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. The Pancha Pandavas have been living in exile for 12 years, fulfilling their promise. As the Pancha Pandavas understood and lived many sacrifices, the place became Panchavankadu after their name. Kattimankodu Mahadevar is blessed as a Shivalinga saint. In front of him is Nandi Deva in the stone hall. Sri Shakthi Ganapati is majestically displayed in Kannimoolai. Nearby are the Dharmasastha Sannidhi and the Nagaraja Sannidhi. On the left side of the front of the sanctuary is the Bhairav Sanctum facing south. Bhairava Murthy poses on a pole about 5 feet high. To the right of the sanctum is a separate pedestal for the Yogis.

Chitra Poornima in April-May; Vaikasi Visakam in May-June; Aadi Pooram in July-August; Vinayaka Chathurthi in August-September; Navarathri in September-October; Maha Shivrathri in February-March and Sani Peyarchi-Saturn planet transition days are the festivals celebrated in the temple.
