Introduction

Kasipalayam Muthu Velayuthasamy Temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga, located in the Kasipalayam, Erode district, Tamil Nadu. Here the Presiding deity is called as Muthu Velayuthasamy with his consorts Valli and Deivanai. The temple is situated at a distance of 20 km from Sathyamangalam.

Puranic Significance

Sundarar, a great devotee of Shiva, was returning through this city after receiving many gifts of gold and material from his friend King Cheraman as a result of his poetic knowledge. It was dark when we reached the area where the temple is now located. He rested at the gate of the nearby Pillaiyar temple. At that time, Shiva wanted to test Sundarar who disrespected him and sent his Bhutaganas in the guise of robbers and asked them to loot Sundar’s gifts.

Worried, Sundarar went to Kumarankundram and sang Devar Bhatikam saying why you and Ambika are not protecting the devotees worshiping in the town from the robbers. Immediately Swami made all the items return through bhutaganas. This is evidenced by two sculptures of Lord Shiva and Sundarar who are worried and happy in one of the Mandapathoons of this temple.

It is known from an ancient inscription here that it is more than 1500 years old. One of the eight traces found in this area mentions that Lord Muruga is seen here as the source with three arts. Similarly, in one of the old hymns, it is said that if you come here and worship Lord Muruga, you will be cured of deadly diseases.

Beliefs

It is the belief of the devotees that he will immediately solve all the problems of the devotees who seek him, including Naga Dosha and Putra Dosha. If you participate in the special ritual held here every day, it is said that the dosha of Mars will be removed.

Special Features

After bowing to the Pillaiyar at the front of the temple, go up the steps. Many rare idols found in the hill are kept in Artha Mandapam. The most ancient stone statue of a five-headed Serpent worshiping Shivalinga, Ganesha and Goddess Durga idols created during the reign of Konguchola have also been found and installed in Goshta. Three stages beyond the Rajagopuram, the flagpole and the peacock are seen. Muthu Velayuthaswamy appears in the sanctum sanctorum with Valli and Deivanai.

A special abhisheka aradhana is performed to this mountain Murugan before the start of family auspiciousness. Then it is believed that if the lizard rattles to the right in the hall in front of the Moolasthan, the work we are about to start will be successful, and if it rattles to the left, it is believed that the matter will be hindered.

The main trees of this temple are the vilva tree and the vanni tree. To the right of Murugan are Shiva-Parvati in a beautiful sanctum, Moola Ganapati, and Dakshinamurthy standing in the middle of it. And now 18 idols of Siddhas, 108 Shivlinga idols and Navagrahas have been installed in separate sanctuaries to be displayed in separate.
