Introduction
Karnathankoil Kanagapureeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Karnathankoil village, Koothanallur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. This village has a small temple to the east of the main road. Here the Lord is called as Kanagapureeswarar and Mother is called as Meenakshi. The temple has a pond in the southeast. The Lord to the east has a medium-sized lingamurthi of Kanagapureeswarar. There is a front hall in which Goddess Meenakshi is facing south. Ambika is beautiful with a flower in her hand.
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. There are floors on both sides of the sanctum sanctorum gate. On the right floor there is a small Murugan valli deity. Outside the front hall, Nandi has a small hall with an altar and an inscription. In the north-east is the beautifully shaped Bhairavar shrine. A part of an Audaiyar is lying separately near it. Near it is a covered well. Twenty years have passed since Kudamuzku, puja worships are not known.
