Introduction

                          Kakkakkuttur Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Kakkakkuttur village, Nannilam Taluk, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Kakkakkuttur is about half a kilometre from the main road on the south bank of the river Valparai on the Mayiladuthurai road to the north of Thiruvarur.

The meaning of the village name is unknown. A small temple is coming up here for a lingamurthi found in the field. A sanctum for the Lord and a sanctum for Ambikai are located nearby. Both the shrines are facing east. And the name of the lord’s is unknown. The Temple lingam is believed to be 1000 years old.
