Beliefs

Devotees worship Maragathavalli Ambal Sametha Malai Kozhundeeswarar to cure diseases. After anointing the deity, they put on new clothes and offer alms.

Special Features

Arjuna Theertha:

It is believed that one of the arrows shot by Arjuna in the Mahabharata war fell on the rock where the temple is located. Due to this, the water flowed from the place where the arrow had hit. Then it is the eternal fountain of water that is Arjuna Tirtha. At the base of this settlement, the river Arjuna flows even today. Tiruvotukkeni Perennial Spring is located near Arjuna Theertha. Arjuna Theertha and Thiruvotukkeni Theertha are believed to be elixirs that cure diseases.

They have carved out the rock and built a      Kadaneri temple with a lingam in the sanctum sanctorum. Nataraja – Sivakami Ambal on the right side, Ganesha and Murugan idols on the left are realistically set in the rock. There are separate sanctums for Sivakami Ambal, Kalabhairava and Navagraha to the right outside the Gudavarai temple. Kumbabhishekam was done in 2008 for this temple which is under the control of Hindu Charitable Authority.
