Introduction
Irumathur Kollapuriam Temple is a village temple located near the town of Irumathur along the Dharmapuri – Tirupattur highway in Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu. The temple has Kollapuriamman shrine, Ganesha and Navagraha sub shrines. The temple has a three-tiered Rajagopuram. Temple is located on the roadside in Irumathur village, about 15 km from the state highway to Tirupattur from Dharmapuri town. Here the Goddess is standing alone in the village. The Temple is believed to be 800 years old.
Beliefs
A new worship is conducted in this temple to recover the stolen items. The temple has an ancient palm tree on the side of dharmapuri- Tirupathur road. Devotees who want to recover the stolen goods tie ropes around the necks of live chickens on the branches of this tamarind tree. There is a belief among the devotees that the stolen items will be found before the chickens tied up die and their bodies dry up.
