Introduction
Goraj Mangalnath Mahadev Prachin Mandir is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Goraj village,in Waghodia Taluka in Vadodara District of Gujarat State, India. It is located 38 km towards East from District head quarters Vadodara. The Principle deity is called as Mangalnath Mahadev in the form of Lingam. The temple is in dilapidated state. It has a small mantapa (hall), where the lord is placed and there are two Nandi outside the temple premises. The sand stone carving of Nandi is huge in front of Mahadev, might be the biggest size at Gujarat. This Shiva temple is locally called as “Bholenath Prachin Mandir”. The temple is an ancient brick temple. The Nandi statue has been beheaded and the original structure has been replaced with a newer domed construction. It is believed that this temple was built in 10th Century CE. The monument is protected by the Gujarat state division of Archaeological Survey of India.
