The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. The entire temple was worshiped in a hut with only the idol and the lingam. With the efforts of the people of the village and the help of some elders, it has been completely renovated. This is a small East facing temple, directly behind the temple is a Tirthakulam. There is a well called Agathiyatheertha to the north-east of the temple. The Lord has the sanctum towards the east and the goddess towards the south.
There is a mandapam at the front, which has Vinayaka and murugan at the karuvarai gate. Nandi is situated towards the God. Lord Saturn is facing east side. In the same mandapa there is a lingam as Agatheeswarar which is facing west. Sun is also nearby. Only Tenmugan and Durga are in Karurai Goshta.
