    • Named after Dalavai Chettiar, a devotee who worshiped Kachaleeswarar in Kanchipuram.
    • Legend: During heavy rainfall, Dalavai Chettiar prayed for help to return home; Lord Shiva took his form and completed his tasks. In gratitude, he built the temple in Chennai.
