Introduction
Erukkai Bhimeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Erukkai village, Kilvelur circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Erukkai is a small riverside village appears to be a prosperous and wooded area. This is a small Shiva temple. Here the Primary deity is called as Lord-Bhimeswarar and Mother is called as Abirami. This region is associated with Mahabharata. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.
It is said that it got its name as Bhimeswarar due to the worship of Bhima. The east facing temple is surrounded by a wall. In the east is the Sanctum gate. In front of him there is a cone-shaped hall. Here the Lord is facing south side. Directly in front of the Lord is the Nandi mandapam. In the north, a huge tree stands proudly overlooking this temple.
