Introduction

Ealing Shri Kanaga Thurkkai Amman Temple is located in Ealing, London, England. The temple is also known as Ealing Amman Temple. Ealing is a part of London, the capital of England. Here Kanakadurga is famously illuminated in the Amman temple. It is said that this temple was founded by Sambamurthi, the chief guru of the Kalikampal Temple in Chennai, who came here and placed the image of Ambal and performed the Lord’s Prayer to set up the temple. A small tower has been installed as a symbol of this temple, which is located on Chappell Street, which is a busy place of traffic in the city of London.

Puranic Significance 

  • The temple was founded on the 10th August 1991 at Harrow Honey Bond Hall.
  • The place of worship was moved to Southall Shakelton Hall on 25.10.1991 and later moved to Wembley Union Hall on 11.08.1992.
  • The first Executive Committee was formed on 14.04.1993.
  • The first ‘Maha Kumbabishekam’ (“Consecration Ceremony”) was held on the 6th of June 1999.
  • The first ‘Mahotsavam’ was held from 20.07.2001 for 25 days.
  • The second ‘Maha Kumbabishekam’ (“Consecration Ceremony”) was held on the 6th of June 2011.

Special Features

 Upon entering, the hall where ceremonies take place. On their walls, mythological sculptures like Ganapati, Shiva, Murugan are beautifully arranged. If you enter it, the divinity shines in the temple. There are flagpoles, altars, and lion chariots towards Ambigai. There is an airplane with colourful sculptures. Dwarapalakis stand on either side of the womb facing east. On his side, Sundaresar and Meenakshi Amman are in the temple along with Kalinga in front of Nandi. Lakshmisamedanarayana is graced in Adutasannithi. Both Valli and Deivanai are on either side, and Lord Muruga is seen standing on a pole carrying a staff. Here Rukmani sameda krishna and Anjaneya are showering blessings on their separate shrines. All the deities are enshrined here. Food is offered daily in this temple. The temple is open daily from 7 am to 3 pm and from 4 pm to 10 pm for darshan of devotees.
