Introduction
Sri Paramahansa Nath Temple in Cuttack Odisha (known as Parama Hansanath) is the most popular Shiva sanctuaries in Odisha. As expressed by the regions, the sanctuary was inherent in the fifteenth century during the rule of Gajapati King Sri Prataprudra Dev and the sanctuary holds a significant spot in Odisha.
Puranic Significance
This is a five-chambered Rekha and pidha sanctuary. The Vimana is of Pancharatha rekha style. The doorjambs of the vimana and the bhogomandapa depict models of the navagraha and dvarapalas. The Plinth of the sanctuary displays models depicting war scenes, elephants and ponies in parade, enriched swans. In the sanctum is a Patal-Phuta Shiva Linga. There is a wooden covering and conceivably added at some point during the fifteenth or sixteenth century. Gods around the sanctuary are Parvati, Kartikeya and Ganesh. A major bull and Rama-abhisekha pictures are found on the northern mass of the sanctuary. Two Vishnu pictures are found on the external dividers of the sanctuary.
