Introduction
Commune Puthuthurai Somasundareswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Commune Puthuthurai village, Karaikal district. From Karaikal-Tirunallaru road, a small road leading to Darumapuram branches off. On that small road is the famous Darumapuram Moorinathar temple, from there is a Pillaiyar temple on the west of Mugaideen Andavarpallyvasal Street here; from there a winding red road leads to Puduthurai Shiva Temple. Here the Presiding deity is called as Somasundareswarar in the form of Lingam and Mother is called as Angayarkanni.
The old temple is believed to be 1000 years old. A lingamurti that has been under the tree for many years, this Soma Sundareswarar is blessed with his sanctum towards the east. He is facing the south side of the temple. There are shrines of Vinayakar Murugan at Karurai gate, Daksanamurthy bhairava and Shani bhagavan shrines nearby.
