Introduction
Bhubaneswar Nagesvara (Nabakeswar) Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. Located 300m north of Parsurameswara Temple in Bhubaneswar old city, Nagesvara (Nageswar) Temple is set within a small manicured garden next to an ancient tank. This monument also goes by the name of Nabakeswar Temple; it is often referred to as much in the media.
Puranic Significance
The temple have been built in the 10th century A.D. by the Somavamshi dynasty kings, the temple is plain without any decoration or designs The temple has a rekh vimana with no connecting mandapa (jagamohana). The presiding deity within the sanctum is a shiva linga. Nagesvara Temple faces west, with the exterior niches containing images of Ganesha, Kartikeya and Parvati. A few meters north of the main temple are a small subsidiary shrine, stuffed full of idols and offerings.
