Introduction
Attur Rathnapureeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Attur village, Thiruvarur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Attur town is on the north bank of the river. Hence the name called as Attur. It is a small village, this Shiva temple is facing east side, and there is a large pond to the north of the temple towards the east. Here the Lord is called as Rathnapureeswarar, towards the east side and Mother is called as Abirami, towards the south side. An open hall connects the two sanctuaries. In it there is Vinayaka at the gate of Karuvarai and Nandi outside the hall in front of the Lord. Vinayagar, Murugan, and Mahalakshmi have their own sanctum. A huge tree stands next to the sandesara shrine. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.
