Introduction
Athinakudi Shiva temple is located in Athinakudi village, Nagai circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Here the Presiding deity is called as Lord Shiva. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. This Shiva temple was completely ruins in state. Now the idols have been taken out and kept in a separate shed. The tenants who were inspired by the movements refused to lease, the income from the temple lands stopped and the Shiva-worshipping citizens went to the big cities in search of work and material, and the village temples here began to decay.
Here, even this small temple has been abandoned without any effort to rebuild it. The sanctum sanctorum is completely destroyed, and only Shiva is persistently unmoved. Other idols are in a separate shed. Today there are two Ganeshas, Ambigai, Murugan, Valli, Lakshminarayan, Sandesar and a Nandi and an altar are present in the small tin shed.
