Introduction

Location:

• Situated at Ahobilam, Andhra Pradesh.
• 500 meters from Yogananda Narasimha Temple, 3 km from Lower Ahobilam, and 10 km from Pavana Narasimha Swamy Temple.

Deity: The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Chatravada Narasimha.

Puranic Significance:

• Lord Chatravada Narasimha is depicted with a beautiful smile on His face. His left hand is in the unique Tala Mudra, a hand gesture not seen in other Narasimha forms.
• The deity is worshiped under a Peepal tree, surrounded by thorny bushes, hence the name Chatravada Narasimha. “Chatra” refers to an umbrella, and “Vata” refers to the Peepal tree.
• According to legend, two Gandharvas, Haha and Hoohoo, entertained the Lord with music, and as a blessing, the Lord made them famous singers.
• Lord Indra and the demigods are said to have worshipped Lord Chatravada Narasimha here, requesting Him to eliminate the demon king. Therefore, the temple is also called Devata Aradhana Kshetra (the sacred place of divine worship).

• Devotees, especially those skilled in music, perform before the deity, seeking divine blessings for mastery in music and the fine arts.
• The belief is strong among devotees that Lord Chatravada Narasimha grants proficiency in these arts to those who seek His blessings.

• The Chatravada Narasimha form is considered the most handsome among the Nava Narasimha temples.
