Introduction
On the way from Vedaranyam to Kodiyakarai, about 7 kilometers away, there is a place called Sri Rama’s Foot. Ramar Padam (literally: Ramas Footprint) located on the highest point of land in the sanctuary, is a small shrine containing the stone footprints of Lord Rama. Ram’s foot is consecrated in a small hall as you climb the twenty or thirty steps. From here, the boundary between the Kodiyakarai forest and the wildlife sanctuary begins. To the west of this place is a path embedded in the Paver Block. About a kilometer away on the road, there is a ruined temple. Probably it was Rama temple. The temple is built of brick. No plane, only four side round walls left. The perimeter walls are also held in place by the ivory grip of a tree. There is no trace of any idols inside. This temple has seen how many storms have formed in the Bay of Bengal! It still stands majestically with its remnants standing still on this earth !! Large numbers of Rama devotees gather here during the second week of April to celebrate Ram Navami Festival.
