Introduction
Muthuvedu village is situated about 15 KM towards western direction of Kanchipuram. This village has one ancient Sivalayam. The temple main deity is called Sri Muktheeswarar. His consort is called Sri Akilandeswari. The temple has also shrines for Vinayagar, Valli Devasena sametha Arumugar. Chandikeswarar, Navakiragam and Bhairavar. The idol of Arumugar, sitting on a peacock by folding one leg, and resting another leg on the floor is a master piece of architectural wonder. The peacock unusually is facing northern direction. The present condition of the temple is in need of renovation. Now the people of the village is constructing a compound wall for the temple. Daily one time pujas are performed here. There is also a temple sacred pond nearby. Festivals like Prodosham, Arundra Darishanam, Sivarathiri are celebrated here.
