Introduction
On the road side Puduchery to Gingee –Tindivannam Sri Kothandaramar temple is located. The largest temples built by the Nayaka kings and the Vijayanagara kings were damaged in the Mughal-European wars.
Puranic Significance
The Gingee Fort Venkataraman Temple, which is still in good condition today, has long been in demand for worship. It is the duty of everyone to maintain the old temples and prevent them from destruction before spending millions to build new temples. Inscriptions from the Pallava, Chola, Pandya, Vijayanagara and Nayakar periods are found in Gingee . The Nayaka kings have done many things for Gingee’s progress since the 15th century. However, in 1564, the Vijayanagara king was overthrown by the Mohammedans and Gingee was occupied. During their reign, temples were often looted and demolished, and mosques were built there.
