Introduction
Seruvalur Nageshwarar Shiva Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva Located in the Seruvalur Village, Nannilam Circle, Thiruvarur District, Tamilnadu. The Kaliamman Temple Arch is located on the right hand side after passing the distance. Seruvalur is located on the north bank of the river Thirumalairajan. The small beautiful village has a large pond at the front of the town with a new Ganesha temple on its banks and a Shiva temple with a single sanctum nearby. The temple is believed to be 1000 years old. The Shiva temple on this side, which used to be a large temple, has been demolished and a small temple dedicated to Lord Nageswara have been built on it. The town was earlier known as Seval by the name of Lord Murugan. Currently the village is known as Cheruvalur. The name Nageshwarar is given to the Lord because the Nagas are worshiped.
